Summer Reading Program 2025

Dunkerton Public Library has found the cheat code for endless fun this summer with an awesome theme:

Level Up At Your Library!

Play is one of the ways we learn to relate to others, to think in new ways, and to foster friendships, new and old. Level Up at Your Library is an all-ages summer reading program based around puzzles and games. Whether you’re playing with STEM concepts or gamifying reading logs, learning to play chess or how to code video games, iREAD© 2025: Level Up at Your Library reminds us that libraries are not just a space for knowledge, they are a space for fun! The summer reading program is valuable to everybody! It’s very beneficial for young minds to absorb new words and vocabulary. For older children, it stops the summer slide of all they’ve learned and makes transitioning into the new school year easier. For adults, reading is fantastic for the mind and is a healthy way to relax. The summer reading program will run from June 1st through July 31st. The children/teen program includes toddlers through finishing 12th grade, and we will have an adult program for anyone who is 18+.

Preface for the Summer Reading Program:

  • Hand in a registration form and pick up your reading log at the library (or sign up online, both registration and booklet may be printed from our website. Calendar with all our programs and events will also be available in the library and on our website).
  • Keep track of your minutes from June 1st to July 31st in the log. Every 100 minutes read (or being read to) will earn an entry into our grand prize drawings! These entries will be submitted by the librarians at the end of the program.
  • Be sure to turn in the booklet by August 4th (or by the early morning of Aug. 5th) to submit your minutes. Librarians will submit your entries at this time. Booklets returned after that date will not be accepted.
